Bejeweled
Bejeweled is the worlds #1 puzzle game. Pop Cap created the the package art and I was asked to create the Gem. I did this in a 3D program so let’s take a look at how the gem was done.
After exploring dozens of Gem shapes we arrived at this one. The rig is simple. ‘got an environment reflecting this image to give it a bit of interest. The rest of the surface is responding to a bunch of point lights. When I move a light I can see the result quickly. This was important because. every reflection needed to be finely tuned. Sometimes I’d leave only one light on to really see what it was doing
